Martial Arts Therapy Programme
Freestyle Kickboxing Academy has teamed up with Babusya Galyna UK (BG UK) to create an opportunity for Ukrainian individuals who have fled the war to access council‑funded kickboxing classes in a safe, welcoming environment. The programme offers a space to rebuild confidence, improve wellbeing, and become part of a supportive local community. Through structured training, participants can relieve stress, develop new skills, and connect with others who understand their journey. Together, BG UK and the academy aim to provide stability, empowerment, and a sense of belonging as people begin to rebuild their lives in the UK.
Purpose of the programme
Community integration
A welcoming environment where Ukrainian refugees can meet others, build friendships, and feel part of local life.
Mental wellbeing support
Physical exercise is a proven way to reduce stress and anxiety, and structured classes offer routine and stability.
Physical empowerment
Kickboxing builds confidence, strength, and a sense of personal agency — especially important for people who’ve experienced trauma.
Encourage empowerment
Helping participants recognise their own strength, celebrate progress, and rebuild confidence through positive, skill‑based training.
